In the interests of openness and transparency, the Silloth Vintage Rally committee have decided to publish its accounts for the year ended 31 August 2024.
Grants, sponsorship & donations includes grant funding of £1,500 from Cumberland Council towards the purchase of some new pedestrian barriers, £1,000 from Solway Firth Partnership from the Robin Rigg Community Fund and £990 from the Silloth Music Festival towards the cost of putting on the event. Also, £130 in donations. Advertising income comes from local businesses who kindly agreed to advertise in our programme, for which we are grateful. Another valuable source of income comes from stall rents from all the various food concessions and traders who attend the event to sell their wares. And of course, the fairground which is an essential part of any event of the Green. Finally, we also raised £736 from the sale of programmes and other merchandise.
The expense headings are self-explanatory. Repairs and maintenance this year includes a new cover for our pop-up tent and £1,881 spent on some new pedestrian barriers which will be available for other events on the Green. When we can, the Vintage Rally committee like to put something back into the town – having previously purchased a bench, new pedestrian barriers and also given a donation of £1,000 for the purchase of some new shrubs on the Green. Hire fees includes the cost of hiring portaloos and first aid cover for the event.
We try to keep costs to a minimum but events such as this are inevitably costly to put on and due to the nature of the Green, we are unable to charge an admission fee. There is a lot of support and practical help behind the scenes that doesn’t show up in a set of Accounts and that support is crucial for the event to continue. Last but by no means least is our dedicated team of volunteers who are worth their weight in gold, spending a lot of time and effort organising the event over many months.
